What We Are About

The White Wolf Woman's Foundation is a newly established non-profit organization, inspired by the noble qualities of the White Wolf, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and healing in Indigenous cultures. Our foundation embraces these values as we embark on our mission to empower non-federally recognized Indigenous women.

At the core of our foundation's philosophy are the virtues of courage, success, and loyalty, mirroring the spirit of the White Wolf. We are dedicated to promoting goodness in all forms: peace, love, hope, humility, compassion, and faith. These principles guide our approach to every program and initiative we undertake.

Comprising a group of accomplished and like-minded women, our foundation is committed to securing grants and creating opportunities that uplift and support non-federally recognized Indigenous women. Through our collective efforts, we aim to foster a brighter future where these women can thrive and achieve their aspirations.

As we embark on this journey, we invite all who share our vision to join us in making a meaningful impact. Together, we can embody the strength and resilience symbolized by the White Wolf, bringing positive change to our communities and beyond.

TracieJean Gorbet, Founder and Executive Director, has spent a lifetime in customer service, community service, and giving back. More about her below.

Our History

Early Life and Education

It starts with Marie Mason Potts (1895-1978)

aka: Chankutpan or “One with Sharp Eyes”

aka: My “Nana” was an influential California Native American Activist who traveled and lectured on tribal sovereignty, heritage, and cultural preservation. She started “The Carlisle Arrow”, a student paper for Carlisle Indian School. Nana was the first of the California Indians to graduate from Carlisle.

Professional Achievements

For 30 years she was an editor for “The Smoke Signal” which has been reported to be the first Native American newspaper. She also taught American and California Native American History at California State University in Sacramento. Nana was an author and founding member of Sacramento Indian Center, the Federated Indians of California, and the Indian American Press Association Intertribal Council Center.

Legacy and Inspiration

The strength that forms the foundation of our family comes from her contributions to the community and lives on in me. The need for this strength exists. The need is White Woman's Wolf Foundation.
